from a Crown Lease and no order could be obtained without the

license of the Crow. Or at least the order would be subject

to a license being obtained. On the other hand if the license

is obtained a sale might be effected without the expense of

legal proceedings.

20. At the time the trust was founded there were no other means

of educating native clergy but at the present day there are

several institutions in the Colony at which preliminary training

can be obtained, to all of which the Bishop of Victoria is in

the same relationship as he was to the original college, and any

scheme for the foundation of an institution for the complete

training of native clergy on the site of the trust property

would require a provision of funds which cannot now be obtained.

21. The proposed scheme would provide for a finishing school

under the immediate supervision of the warden and would provide

funds for the maintenance of the other buildings and for training

facilities in other institutions and at the same time relieve

the trust of the burden of the upkeep of the warden's residence

which has become a liability.

Your Petitioner therefore humbly prays

that the License of the Crown may be

granted for the sale of that portion of

Inland Lot No. 76 upon which the Warden's

residence and the grounds occupied there-

with are situate free from the restrictive

covenant contained in the existing Crown

Lease of the property.

And Your Petitioner will ever pray etc.

Dated the

17th 20

day of

March

1938.

Ronato Hongkong.

Bishop of Victoria (Hongkong)
